County Superintendents support budget ask for regional support and capacity building program
In June, the Climate Ready Schools Coalition submitted a letter to Governor Newsom signed by County Superintendents of Education expressing “strong support for the proposed $10 million investment in a state grant program for regional support and capacity building to advance climate-resilient, healthy efficient schools and to make the most of state, local, and federal funding.” Each of the County Superintendents stated in the letter that they would be eager to participate in the program if it were approved, and would hire a dedicated staff member to support districts in their region to develop climate-resilient schools.
There is growing momentum from education leaders across the state to create healthy, climate-resilient schools, along with awareness of the need for support and capacity across the system.
We call on Governor Newsom and legislative leaders to take action this year to advance this program.
